I am an experimental condensed-matter physicist. I have experience working in low-temperature physics laboratories and clean room environments. I have worked on designing, fabricating, and characterizing quantum devices.

Experience

Senior Scientist

D-Wave Systems, Burnaby, Canada

I work as a researcher with the processor development team to improve various characteristics of the quantum annealer processors: coherence times, noise levels, and so on.

January 2022 - Present

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Department of Physics, University of Basel, Basel, Switzerland

Using adiabatic nuclear demagnetization, we cooled transport electrons in a Coulomb Blockade Thermometer down to 224 µK, while staying well below 1 mK for about an hour. I worked in the group of Dominik Zumbühl

January 2019 - December 2021

Research Fellow

Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada

I developed fluid mechanical models to help understand the development of limb buds during the early stages of embryo's development. I worked in the group of Sevan Hopyan

January 2017 - December 2018

Lecturer

York University, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Toronto, Canada

Taught MATH 3090, Computational Mathematics.

September 2018 - December 2018

PhD Student and Teaching Assistant

University of British Columbia, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Vancouver, Canada

PhD student in Professor Joshua Folk's lab. Teaching assistant for various physics and engineering physics courses.

September 2011 - August 2016

Computer Programmer

Engage Learning Systems, Toronto, Canada

I wrote programs using PHP, MySQL and so on. Fun times! Engage does not exist as a company anymore, but Workbay does.

January 2008 - August 2011

Education

University of British Columbia

PhD, Physics
September 2011 - August 2016

York University

BSc, Computational Mathematics

Honours Project Adviser: Professor Huaxiong Huang

August 2002 - May 2006

Pathways to Education

Physics/Math Tutor
September 2022 - Present

City of North Vancouver

I am a city park steward. I kill invasive plants (Hollies, etc.). Occasionally I plant trees too.
